2016 Forest Preserve Health Assessment

In 2016, the City of Greenbelt, at the request of members of the Forest Preserve Advisory Board, contracted with A. Morton Thomas and Associates to conduct an assessment of the health of Greenbelt Forest Preserve. The resulting three documents, posted on the City of Greenbelt website, can be viewed here.

The documents, Volume I, Volume II, and Appendices, are all very detailed.  Volume I is the actual forest health assessment, drawn from onsite field assessments and mapping analysis, and includes physical features, forest associations, and forest stand mapping,

Volume II is a report of the consultant's recommendations for amending the Forest Preserve section of the City Code and the Management and Maintenance Guidelines.  The recommendations are noted in red and are presented within the Code and Guidelines language.
