Hooray for the longest walk!

The Longest Woods Walk

Sunday, December 22 (rescheduled from December 7)

10:30 am

Research Road at the BARC gate

Eight hardy hikers braved the rain and mud to hike the full length of the preserve from Research Road to McDonald Field at Southway Road. Along the way, stories about saving the woods were shared, including how several acres behind Greenbelt Elementary School were bulldozed when the school was being built. Covering over four miles on the trails, hikers crossed over logs and streams, around the community gardens, and through the narrowest part of the preserve along the Baltimore Washington Parkway to reach MdDonald field. Down in the dugout, decorated for the occasion, hikers enjoyed hot chocolate, cookies and sandwiches before heading home.
